Gambled and Lost: Dade County Jury Convicts Man of Fentanyl Trafficking

DADE COUNTY, Ga. – A Dade County jury has convicted 32-year-old Tyler Blake Gamble of Trafficking Fentanyl and Possession of Fentanyl with Intent to Distribute following a three-day trial in the Superior Court of Dade County.

The conviction stems from an investigation that began on April 17, 2024, when Gamble, who was on parole for a prior Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute conviction in Cobb County, came under scrutiny for allegedly selling several ounces of methamphetamine to a buyer in DeKalb County, Alabama.

According to the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, intelligence from the DeKalb County Narcotics and Criminal Interdiction Unit prompted Commander Casey York to obtain and execute a search warrant at Gamble’s Trenton residence the same day.

During the search, agents found Gamble at the home carrying 47 pressed fentanyl tablets and $6,370 in cash in his pants pocket. Investigators said Gamble admitted he had sold out of methamphetamine earlier that day and planned to restock from an Atlanta supplier the next morning. He also confessed to trafficking methamphetamine into Dade County on a regular basis.

Testing conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab confirmed the tablets contained fentanyl and weighed 4.8 grams, an amount that qualifies as trafficking under Georgia law.

During trial, Defense Attorney Walt Moffitt described the state’s case as “weak,” but jurors disagreed, returning guilty verdicts on both charges.

Following the verdict, Superior Court Judge Chris Arnt sentenced Gamble to 40 years, with 25 years to serve in the Georgia Department of Corrections.

The case was investigated by Commander Casey York and prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Deanna Reisman.

District Attorney Clayton M. Fuller praised the outcome, commending the work of local law enforcement and the jury’s firm stance against narcotics trafficking.

“This community won today thanks to the relentless work of Commander York, our Drug Task Force, and the citizens who stood up and said, ‘Not here,’” Fuller said. “Gamble thought he was holding all the cards. The jury called his bluff. When you gamble with people’s lives in Dade County, you’ll find out real quick — justice never folds.”
