MedStat Supplies Provides Donation for Purchase of Naloxone

Community, Police & Government
Today,  in Fort Oglethorpe provided several North Georgia Agencies with a donation for the purchase of Naloxone.
Naloxone is a medicine that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose. It is an opioid antagonist. This means that it attaches to opioid receptors and reverses and blocks the effects of other opioids. Naloxone can quickly restore normal breathing to a person if their breathing has slowed or stopped because of an opioid overdose.
With the opioid epidemic swamping the nation, Naloxone is a crucial tool for every first responder. Just within Dade County, our deputies have used this medication on numerous occasions, and saved multiple lives.
