Trenton, Ga. — Dade Middle School officials say they acted swiftly after learning of a statement made by a student that involved a potential threat of school violence.
According to a release issued Monday, school administrators were alerted to the student’s remarks and immediately contacted local law enforcement, including the Trenton City Police Department and the Dade County Sheriff’s Office. Working together, authorities and school leaders determined the student would not be allowed on campus the following day.
Officials stressed that there is no immediate threat to students or staff and that the matter is now being handled by law enforcement.
“The safety of our students, faculty, and community remains our top priority,” the statement read. “We are grateful for the prompt response and continued support from local authorities.”
The school encouraged parents, students, and community members to continue reporting concerns to administrators or police.
Dade Middle School said it will remain in close coordination with law enforcement while the investigation continues.
